As someone who was a bratty, hormonal teenager in the '00s, lip gloss was my go-to product when I wanted to make a statement with my (poorly applied) makeup. The high-shine and shimmering finish gave my look the extra oomph it needed, and no one could tell me [redacted] after I swiped on a couple coats as I was walking through the mall.
Well, that was until either my hair got stuck on my lips — or my lips themselves turned into sandpaper because the formula offered nothing in terms of hydration.
Anywho, fast forward to 2021 and lip glosses have come a hell of a long way, both in terms of finish and formulations. But one particular product I cannot get enough of is Ami Colé's Lip Oil Treatment, which not only gives you a gorgeous finish, but also adds a hint of color, and actually helps to keep your lips soft.
The brand's mission is to give more Black women the option to create a no-makeup makeup look, and boy did they hit the nail on the head with this gloss (along with the rest of the line if I'm being honest).
The magic is all in the clean formula, which features baobab seed oil for moisture, camellia oil for added hydration, along with passion fruit seed oil, which boasts antioxidant properties. And better yet, it's not sticky or clammy once applied. So yes, you truly can have it all.
As you can see above, the Lip Oil Treatment gives you a your-lips-but-better finish that I truly cannot get enough of.
Oh, and while the product only comes in one shade, trust me when I say no matter your skin tone, it is the perfect shade of natural-looking nude.

Ami Colé's Lip Oil Treatment has been living that bi-coastal lifestyle ever since I got her, considering the frequent trips between my makeup bag and everyday purse — and truthfully, I don't see that changing any time soon.
The only thing I need to get my hands on now is the brand's recently launched Lash-Amplifying Mascara to take my no-makeup makeup look, and eyelashes, to new heights.
