This week has been a pretty crazy one for me. I launched my new online fitness programme, Alexandra’s Happy Body Plan. People may not know, but I was a semi-pro ballroom dancer until a knee injury put paid to that.
I got really quite depressed about it and let my fitness slide. I’d always wanted to get back into shape but could never stick at anything. I think we all know what to do with diet and exercise but it’s getting the motivation that’s tough.
But then last year I met my amazing trainer Aaron who specialises in helping women transform their bodies and their lives. What he does is keep you motivated, which has been the key for me. So over the course of three months, I’ve lost two stone but more importantly, I feel amazing!
For me the mental side has been more important than the physical – although I am glad that I can now walk up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath.
Also, I used to have panic attacks on flights – and that’s all stopped now. I’ve been on six flights in the last couple of months and felt completely fine!
So that’s why I wanted to call this plan – which is also available as an app – my Happy Body Plan because I really have found my ‘happy body’.

The workouts – which Aaron leads – are only 10 minutes long so you can fit them round your day. Some people have asked – how can that work to get you in shape? But all the latest scientific papers show that 10 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training has the same benefits as an hour of regular cardio like jogging or cycling. So happy days – do less for the same effect!
As well as being great for fat burning, they are also FUN! I totally understand how hard it can be to get in the right headspace to get in shape, but Aaron is on there on the website giving everyone these brilliant motivational talks to keep you focused.
I also have a FaceBook group where the people who have signed up for the app can talk directly to me and Aaron and we can help spur them on.
I spent Christmas with my family and I did indulge in a few festive treats. I actually planned to do that because it’s all about the balance and on my eating plan you can be really flexible with it because it’s based on calorie counting.
It was devised by renowned nutritionist Amanda Ursell and there are treats on there like chocolate and even a glass of wine, so you won’t ever feel deprived. Boxing day came and I was back on it and jumping around my living room doing The Happy Body Plan routines!
I must admit I’ve been wearing a few more bikinis on my Instagram posts recently – because I am a little proud of what I’ve achieved!

Meal of the week
As it’s so cold out, it’s nice to warm up with a lovely casserole. Here is one from my diet plan.
Vegetable Hot Pot
Arrange 100g Quorn pieces in cubes in layers in a small casserole with a large potato 200g (peeled and chopped), sliced leeks, 50g canned lentils, 50g mushrooms, sliced carrots, half a chopped onion. Pour over 300ml vegetable soup and 30ml water. Cook at 180oc/gas 4 for 45 minutes and serve.
Exercise of the week
Right left jab
Clench your fists and swivelling on your left leg, punch straight ahead then swap over by pivoting on your right leg and punching with the left fist. Repeat at speed for a minute, making sure your knees are bent.
This is a great cardio move so very effective for fat burning, as well as toning the whole body.
