Ben Shephard has revealed the true reason as to why he hasn’t appeared on Good Morning Britain. The broadcaster shared the valid reason as he failed to hide his excitement.
I’m about to go and film which means series 12 of Tipping Point
Taking to his Instagram account, Ben, 46, admitted that numerous followers had been asking him why he wasn’t on Good Morning Britain recently and he wanted to share his reason.
Amidst reports that Ben was set to replace Piers Morgan who departed the programme earlier this year, the Epping-born journalist has found himself on the panel more and more.
However, he hasn’t made an appearance on the show since last week, with some viewers being left confused.
In recent weeks, Alastair Campbell has even made an appearance on the GMB panel, while Ben has been away.
Now, Ben has clarified he hasn’t left the show but had prior filming commitments.
In a video shared with his 473,000 Instagram followers, he explained that he was busy filming ITV’s Tipping Point.
During the short behind the scenes clip, he said: “This is episode 101, series 12 of Tipping Point. I’m about to go and film which means series 12 of Tipping Point is about to go on film which means over half of this series, I’m just getting ready.”
Ben added: “There’s only 74 left, 101 down, 74 left. Is somebody going to get ten grand for our 101st show? Let’s hope so, what about 20? Let’s make it 20 grand.”
Alongside his upload, he penned: “Morning all – lots of you keep asking why I’m not on @gmb much at the moment and this is why!!
“A cheeky #behindthescenes of ep 101 of @itvtippingpoint series 12.
“Still got a few left to film but the team and contestants have been awesome as ever!!!
“Guest appearance by @bonafide_sound #jackpot #tippingpoint.”
Ben’s loyal army of fans soon flocked to the comment section to praise the star and thank him for offering some reassurance.
“Yay. Love Tipping Point. Have a great weekend,” said one fan.
While as second added: “Looking forward to seeing them all. One of my favourite quiz shows.”
“We miss you big time,” gushed a third.
Last night, Ben was left horrified on Tipping Point as an unlucky player walked away with a staggering £3,500 that he had been putting towards a house deposit.
Ben said. “It’s always really special when someone can come in and we can see clearly the difference that that sort of money will make, could be life-changing.”
He added: “We are going to just play out this to see if maybe – if the machine had behaved if that jackpot counter would have gone.”
To Ben and Leon’s horror, the coin drop did see the £10,000 jackpot counter fall.
Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
