Another black-ish spinoff is in the works!
ABC is currently developing another Black-ish spinoff from creator Kenya Barris, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Titled Old-ish, the comedy would follow Laurence Fishburne and Jenifer Lewis reprising their roles as Dre’s parents Earl “Pops” Johnson and Ruby Johnson.
The spinoff “will follow Ruby and Earl as they give love a second chance. When they move to a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of L.A., they’ll meet characters who represent the old and new faces of the community as they try to make it work as a married couple. Again.”
Laurence has been a recurring character on the show from the beginning, while Jenifer was promoted from recurring to series regular in season two. They play Dre’s (Anthony Anderson) parents.
Old-ish would be the fourth installment in the -ish franchise. Black-ish premiered in 2014 on ABC, Grown-ish premiered in 2018 on Freeform, and Mixed-ish premiered in 2019 on ABC.
