Britney Spears' Father Still Wants to Use Her Money

Britney Spears has separated herself from her family since her conservatorship ended. For 13 years, Britney was not in control of her own funds or her day-to-day life. Despite the conservatorship being over, her father, Jamie Spears, doesn’t want to let Britney go completely financially. According to new documents, he is petitioning to have Britney continue paying his attorney fees.

Jamie Spears wants Britney Spears to pay

Jamie is not done with Britney financially. In court documents, obtained by People, he requested that Britney’s estate make payments to his legal team for “ongoing fiduciary duties relating to the winding up of the Conservatorship of the Person and Estate.”

“Prompt payment on account of Jamie’s attorneys’ fees is necessary to ensure the Conservatorship can be wound up quickly and efficiently to allow Britney to take control of her life as she and Jamie desire,” the documents read. “The fiduciary obligations Jamie owes did not end with his suspension or with the order terminating the Conservatorship.

The petition states that the payment is required.

“Payment of Jamie’s attorneys’ fees from the Estate is required regardless of the unsupported ad hominem vitriol lodged at him,” the document reads.

How does Britney feel about this?

Britney’s attorney, Matthew Rosengart, was upset with Jamie’s request.

“Mr. Spears reaped many millions of dollars from Britney as a conservator, while paying his lawyers millions more, all from Britney’s work and hard-earned money,” he wrote in a statement to the outlet. “The conservatorship has been terminated and Mr. Spears was suspended ignominiously. Under the circumstances, his petition is not only legally meritless, it is an abomination. Britney poignantly testified about the pain her father caused her and this only adds to it. This is not what a father who loves his daughter does.”

Britney Spears’ conservatorship

Britney’s conservatorship was officially resolved on Nov. 12. The move comes after Britney took to the stand during a publically broadcasted court hearing and revealed how horrible the conservatorship had been for her.

“I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK, and I’m happy. It’s a lie,” she said. “I thought, just maybe if I said that enough, maybe I might become happy because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it. But now I’m telling you the truth, OK. I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry, it’s insane and I’m depressed. I cry every day.”

She revealed that she was forced to have an IUD and was not allowed to get married. She also alleged that she was drugged into compliance to perform in Las Vegas.
