BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker, 44, has taken to Instagram and explained that he is currently in A&E after “whacking” his head on glass. The dad-of-three admitted he was feeling “wobbly” following the incident yesterday.

The Strictly Come Dancing contestant said he was taken to hospital today to “check for a bleed on the brain”.

In view of his 209,000 followers, he penned: “Bit of head-based drama today!

“After whacking my noggin on the big glass window yesterday I got sent to A & E today because I was feeling a little wobbly.

“A lovely nurse at Barnet Hospital called Karina checked my vitals and 6ft 9 Consultant Erik Witt gave me a CT scan to check for a bleed on the brain. Thankfully… all ok.” (sic)

He continued: “I’ve got to rest for a couple of days – so I’ll be a bit behind – but ready to dig in again next week.

“A timely reminder of how amazing the NHS is and, even though I’m not allowed to tell you who my Strictly pro is…

“I can tell you that she waited for hours in the car park to make sure I was ok. Whatever happens on the telly… she has a friend for life.”

The BBC Breakfast host also shared the message via his Twitter account and confirmed there was no bleeding on his brain.

Celebrity pals and fans alike offered their well wishes to the Strictly contestant.

Professional dancer Graziano di Prima wrote: “Have a good recovery my friend.”

Diane Wilson penned: “Glad you’re ok Dan. Did you walk into a glass door? It is easy to do but you feel a bit silly when it happens. Take care.”

John Hueston quipped: “Two days without @louiseminchin and this happens. Not safe to be let out alone.”

It comes after Dan admitted he had “done something stupid” yesterday via the picture-sharing site.

He explained how he’d ran straight into a giant glass door, leaving him with a very sore head.

The BBC host could be seen with a protuding lump on his head as he winced in pain.

Alongside the pic, he wrote: “I’ve done something completely stupid.

“I left my wallet in the taxi as I checked into a hotel.

“I ran back out to chase the driver and ran straight into a giant glass door which I thought was open.”

The broadcaster went on to admit fellow diners had gasped when he fell over.

He continued: “Full deck on the floor, gasps in the restaurant… lump on the head. Thankfully… I still remember the routine.

“I got the wallet back as the driver had stopped for a fag around the corner.”
