Actor Reece Dinsdale delighted fans by showing off his impressive body transformation after giving up crisps for ten weeks.

The Emmerdale star revealed just how much of an effect giving up his guilty pleasure had on him as he sported a noticeably slimmer face in a picture shared on his Twitter.

"Amazing what ten weeks' rest and recuperation (and far fewer crisps) can do for you," the 61 year old, who played Paul Ashdale in the ITV soap, captioned the image.

The soap star, who is set to direct an episode of Emmerdale, excitedly added in his tweet: "Start shooting on Monday and I'm ready for the fray."

A Twitter follower of Reece's commented: "WOW!!! That's astounding (((Reece))) Inspirational achievement."

Another wrote: "Looking top notch mate", while a third wrote: "Looking good!!! Stress free, relaxation and plenty fresh air does wonders!!! Xx."

Reece's health and fitness overhaul came after he previously admitted he struggled to watch himself on screen because of his secret battle with body dysmorphia.

He said: "In my life I have never been comfortable after things that were said when I was young.

"I would always look at myself as twice the size I am. It has been the bane of my life. But I work with that.

"I have had some help and my family are fantastic and they support me. I live with it every day. But I also work with it every day."

Reece's Emmerdale character Paul Ashdale left fans in shock when the soap villain met his grisly death in a huge barn explosion in April.

Reece is married to Zara Turner, an actress from Northern Ireland.

The couple live in Yorkshire with their two children, daughter Elwy, 19, son, Luca, 16, dog Nelly and cat RuSmall.

Reece kickstarted his career in TV and dabbled in theatre, moving between the two as he secured roles on stage and screen.
