Angel Strawbridge, 43, and her husband Dick Strawbridge, 62, became famous for their Channel 4 series all about renovating Chateau de La Motte Husson in France. The Escape to the Chateau star has since spoken candidly about how she struggled with feelings of isolation when she had her first child on the Sweat, Snot & Tears parenting podcast.
Speaking to podcast presenters Annie and Wendy, Angel detailed the challenges of uprooting your life when you have children.
When asked about moments of great change in her life, Angel talked about how she felt after she had given birth for the first time.
“The biggest change when I did feel a little bit isolated was when I had my first child,” she admitted.
“Because when I just was like: right, your whole life changes completely. (sic)

The home renovation star went on to discuss how motherhood had put her in a completely different state of mind for when her family made their life-changing decision to move to France.
“By the time I moved to France I was in a different mental state from before I had children,” she explained.
“I was ready. And I think that’s the big thing.
“I think if you’re gonna do a move to somewhere like this, you really have to be ready for it.”
Angel also talked about how the move had made a big change to her social life, although she also attributed some of that to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Calling herself a “social butterfly”, she admitted that after years of going on wild nights out in London, she now much prefers to hang out with her two young children.
The Escape to the Chateau star confessed that, while her children had settled nicely into the French school, she did not fit in with the posh group of neighbours that she privately christened the “Chateau Set”.
“I felt really uncomfortable, it was weird.” she admitted.

She told the story of how she was once sitting at one of the many dinner parties that she had been invited to by her wealthy neighbours, when she turned to her husband to ask if he was having a good time, at which point the pair agreed it just wasn’t their thing.
In the podcast Angel also detailed the realities of being a “step-grandma” and talked about how she got on really well with her step-son James, who is similar to her in age.
Angel and Dick met later in life through their mutual television agent in 2010 and married in November 2015.
Since the series following the couple through their home renovation adventures aired five years ago, they have since become world-famous.
It’s been reported more than 2.5 million viewers tune in each week to watch the episodes when they are on television.
The show has now been running for seven seasons with no sign of stopping, and has even resulted in spin-off shows such as Escape to the Chateau: DIY and Escape to the Chateau: Make Do and Mend.
The family have also confirmed a new season will air but unfortunately, though a date for season eight has yet to be announced.
