Federal Judge Postpones R. Kelly Trial Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

A federal judge on Tuesday postponed R. Kelly‘s trial due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

Kelly’s court date regarding child pornography and obstruction charges has been scheduled for September 13, 2021.

During the hearing held by phone, U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber said the September date could still be subject to change.

The infamous R&B star was arrested in July 2019 on a 13-count federal charges, including that he sexually abused minors and also conspired to obstruct justice. He has pled not guilty to the charges.

Kelly is also facing numerous charges, including sexual misconduct charges in Hennepin County, Minnesota, a five-count indictment in New York “involving the coercion and transportation of women and girls in interstate commerce to engage in illegal sexual activity,” and more.
