Piers Morgan, 56, was fuming after Dec Donnelly, of the presenting duo Ant and Dec, won yet another accolade. The former Good Morning Britain presenter took to his social media platforms to share his frustration with his followers.

He wrote: “Everywhere I bloody go, up they pop with silverware in their hands & those insufferable smug grins…

“So ‘nice’ to catch up Declan, and many congrats on winning YOUR OWN COMPETITION.”

Piers also shared a photograph of himself looking angry and pointing at a smiling Dec, who was holding an award for “The Donnelly Open” golf tournament, during which he competed with Piers.

Some of Piers’ followers were clearly amused by the picture, as they replied to the broadcaster’s post.

cissesdad tweeted: “Happens every year, he is the only player & wins the trophy every year.”

Johnzeb3 added: “When it comes to sports piers, you always come away with the wooden spoon.”

PaulieDobson wrote: “It’s called WINNING Piers!”

Dec then took to his and Ant McPartlin’s Twitter account, where they boast 6.7 million followers, to respond to his fellow presenter’s bitter post.

He wrote: “I love it when you’re angry,” alongside some laughing emojis.

Piers recently blasted the National Television Awards after losing out on the Best Presenter accolade to Ant and Dec.

He branded the prestigious awards ceremony a “predictable snoozefest”.

Ant and Dec won the coveted award for the 20th year in a row at the event earlier this month.

Piers admitted in an interview: “Well, I knew Ant & Dec would win.

“I don’t even know why they bother to count the votes.”

He insisted his “contribution” to TV over the past year was “more significant”.

He added: “We’ve just been in the middle of a pandemic in which their contribution was to interview people about eating kangaroo testicles in a Welsh castle.

“I felt my contribution to the biggest news story of our lifetime was slightly more significant.”

He added to the Daily Mail: “That is the lot of anybody who works in television.

“There is an unwritten rule that Ant & Dec win all the awards and will continue to do so.

“So, I don’t think they should really bother with these awards anymore because they’re sort of pointless.”
