Janette Manrara’s husband Aljaz Skorjanec has spoken about their “different dynamic” after she left Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the dancer, 31, told how this year’s BBC show is a different affair without his wife, 37, by his side.
Obviously it is a different dynamic, we didn’t know any different for eight years
Speaking about filming the popular programme without Janette on set, Aljaz admitted that it took some getting used to.
He said: “Obviously it is a different dynamic, we didn’t know any different for eight years
“We started this job together and this year I’ve started on my own doing it without her.”
However, the Slovenian native explained that despite his wife’s exit from the show, she’s still giving him choreography tips for his dances with partner Sara Davies.
Aljaz said: “But just like before, Janette and I have always done Strictly together, we always choreograph everything together.
“We help each other with our numbers, not in training but we choreograph the dance to get ideas.
“So we’re still kind of doing it but just for me,” Aljaz revealed.
He also told how she’s part of the immediate Strictly family having helped to co-assist a couple of group numbers.
Addressing his other half’s absence from the main show, Aljaz explained that he misses having her on set.
“I do miss her but when I see how she’s thriving in her new role, you can’t think of it being anything but positive,” he added.
Earlier this year Janette announced that she was leaving Strictly to take on presenting responsibilities on spin-off series It Takes Two.
Speaking about supporting his wife in her new venture, Aljaz told how he never misses an episode of the chat show, admitting that he didn’t watch it so religiously before.
He said: “I watch her every time, every single day, I’ll be honest, I never before really [watched it].”
The star revealed that it was difficult to watch the show every day because of dance rehearsals, that often clashed with the time the programme aired.
“Not that I don’t like it, I’ve always loved the show and loved doing it but because of Strictly schedules, whenever you get a second you take a little break,” Aljaz explained.
“I always watched it back.”
The star went on to gush over his wife’s presenting abilities, saying that she looks like a “natural”.
“I love her and I think she looks so comfortable, she looks like she’s been doing it for years,” he said.
“It’s just a testimony to her really, like Sara was just saying, if you’re in the moment and you’re present, and apply yourself to whatever you’re doing you can achieve your dreams.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 7.10pm on BBC One.
