Kate Middleton ‘sent friends awkward email asking them to call her different name’

Kate Middleton may have been more ready to be a royal princess than we knew.

Many years before Prince William even proposed to the 38 year old, she had already asked her friends to start addressing her differently.

When Kate and William were at university together the future King of England always called her Catherine.

The Queen, Prince Harry and the rest of the royals also called her Catherine even though the press dubbed her Kate.

However, according to reports, the Duchess of Cambridge isn't a fan of the name, and reportedly sent an awkward email to her friends in 2008 asking them to call her Catherine.

Writing for the Sunday Express at the time, columnist Adam Helliker said: "With Prince William’s engagement now a surefire certainty (even Ladbrokes has stopped taking bets on whether it will happen after a flurry of well-placed wagers) there are intriguing signs that Kate Middleton is preparing for her future role.

“It looks like she’s taking it very seriously indeed too.

“I hear that in the past few weeks the former accessories buyer has quietly informed friends that she would like to drop the informal ‘Kate’ and in future wishes to be known by her full name: 'Catherine'.”

At the time Prince William’s press secretary, Paddy Harverson, denied the reports, but we do know that Kate uses her full name on official royal correspondence, and signs off her emails with 'C' for Catherine.

However the Duchess of Cambridge likes to be addressed she’s certainly grown into her royal role and this week has been back out meeting her subjects.

William and Kate first visited London Bridge Job Centre before visiting East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre in Whitechapel.

The third and final stop on Kate and William’s busy day was to Beigel Bake Brick Lane Bakery.Kate looked incredible for her day of royal duties as she wore a red dress with brown heels.

The mother-of-three wore her brunette hair down in bouncy curls, while both she and William wore protective face masks.

William, meanwhile, wore navy trousers with a blue blazer and a lighter blue shirt underneath.
