Maureen Lipman is a regular face on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside her co-star and pal Gyles Brandreth. The much-loved Coronation Street star has now spoken candidly about the moment she wanted to leave the shoot for the Channel 4 show.
The celebrity spin-off sees a host of famous faces sitting down to air their views on TV’s most talked about programmes.
The 74-year-old admitted she was in a shock after bosses wanted those taking part to tune into a now-infamous dating series.
The Evelyn Plummer actress admitted she had no intention of just moments into the programme.
Maureen was sitting with Gyles when the pair were asked to tune into an episode of Naked Attraction – a dating game show which sees a clothed person being faced with six naked people who are initially hidden by booths.
It was a lot more than the Corrie star had bargained for as she admitted to walking off set.
“I had seen Gogglebox, although not the celebrity one and I think I had the wrong idea,” Maureen explained.
“I thought it was going to be something like Front Row on Radio Four.”
She added: “I thought I’d be judging [Pedro] Almodover films or I’d be talking about the early works of Laurence Olivier. I don’t know what I thought.”
Speaking of filming, Maureen detailed her surprise as she admitted to storming off set.
“But believe me, to be confronted by five separate penises was not what I had in mind,” the Corrie star commented.
She joked: “At that point, I did walk out of the room and say, ‘I’ve got one life and I’m not spending it watching this s***.’
“And I came back… and carried on crocheting.”

While the candid moment “never made” the final cut, Maureen admitted her pal Gyles found the situation “hilarious”.
The Weatherfield actress and theatre star also dished on whether she had plans to take part in any other reality shows.
The ITV star admitted she had no plans to take part in any “humiliating” shows but there is one particular series which has caught her attention.
Maureen said: “I mean, I wouldn’t do any of the humiliating ones.
“I love The Repair Shop. I suppose you would call that a reality show.”
She added: “It’s right up my street and I find it very moving.”
