Nav has raced to the top spot on the Billboard Artist 100 chart dated May 23, becoming the third artist to re-enter the list at No. 1 this year and the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time.
The rapper’s third LP Good Intentions, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, lifted him to the top of the Artist chart. According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, Good Intentions logged 135,000 album units in the tracking week.
Eminem and Kenny Chesney were the other acts to re-enter the Artist 100 at No. 1 earlier this year. While Eminnem did it in early February, Chesney achieved the feat last week.
“Turks,” the lead single off Good Intentions, debuted at No. 9 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in April. It has now vaulted from No. 45 to No. 26.
The Artist 100, which launched in 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
