Paddy McGuinness shared his concerns during a candid appearance on The One Show yesterday. The Top Gear presenter admitted he recently suffered an injury which he is recovering from.
The 48-year-old made the candid admission after he addressed his new role on BBC’s Question of Sport.
Earlier this year, it was announced Paddy would be replacing Sue Barker as the host of the primetime quiz show.
Joining the One Show presenters Sam Quek and Ronan Keating, the TV personality was quizzed about taking part in the charity football match for Soccer Aid 2021.
“Paddy, huge news dominating the papers this week about a certain famous footballer returning to play in Manchester,” Ronan mused. “We’re not talking about Ronaldo – you’re playing at this year’s Soccer Aid?”
Paddy chuckled: “Love that. I am. We’re currently in Cheshire training at the minute.
“But I’m a goalkeeper this year. I’ve had a busy year and I’ve not been able to train as much.”
He continued: “I picked up a little injury on my foot so I said to David Seaman, ‘I’ll go in the net. That’ll be easy.’
“It turns out that it isn’t.”
The presenter explained that he is attempting to recover from his injury.
Paddy said: “I’m nursing a few injuries at the minute but I’m loving it.
“I’ve been involved in Soccer Aid for a long, long time. It raises so much money for UNICEF.”
Soccer Aid returns this month for the 10th year of the charity football match.
Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium will play host to the event, which was established by singer Robbie Williams in 2006.

The match between England and a World XI will see a host of former footballers and celebrities take to the field.
Meanwhile, The One Show viewers were left in hysterics after Paddy failed to turn up on time for his slot.
The former Take Me Out star was supposed to be on right at the start of the BBC show to talk about his new role as host of A Question of Sport.
Trying to cover the hiccup, Ronan said: “Well hopefully we’ll get Paddy here very very soon.”
His fellow new co-star Ugo Monye joked in the studio: “This tardiness can’t be tolerated.”
Viewers were quick to comment on the no-show.
One wrote: “@PaddyMcGuinness has bailed on #TheOneShow” with two laughing emojis.
A second joked: “At least Paddy McGuinness can’t wreck the new set if he isn’t there. #TheOneShow.”
A third added: “Oh no only the one Paddy.”
Question Of Sport returns tonight on BBC One at 7.35pm.
