Paris Hilton's stunning engagement ring costs huge $2million

Paris Hilton is rocking a huge new diamond on her left hand and after hearing it cost a whopping $2million (£1.4m), we needed a lie down.

Yep, you heard right – $2million. Need some time to pick your jaw back up off that floor? We’ll wait.

The socialite, 40, recently confirmed she is engaged to boyfriend Carter Reum, after he proposed during celebrations for her milestone birthday on a tropical island.

He’d whisked Paris off to an exotic location to ring in her special day and if that wasn’t impressive enough, Carter – with that hefty diamond sitting pretty in his pocket ready and waiting to meet its new owner – then popped the question as they were walking to dinner on the beach one night.

Since confirming her engagement, Paris has shared details and pictures of the proposal to her official website, where she revealed the story behind her stunning ring that was created by the great godson of Louis-Francois Cartier – who founded the high-end jewellery house that we’ve all come to know and love.

Paris writes: ‘My love went above and beyond in every way. He tapped Jean Dousset… to design a breathtakingly beautiful ring that appears to be lit from within.’

Showing off her ring in all its glory, she shared a quote from its maker that read: ‘We pushed the limits of jewellery using a tension setting to align diamonds seamlessly without metal.’

Paris claims ‘not a detail was spared’ as Carter enlisted the finest diamond cutters, polishes and jewellers to create the ring, which is aptly named the ‘Paris’ after his wife-to-be.

Sounds like he did a real good job, as according to The Natural Diamond Council, Paris’ ring will ‘go down in history’.

‘This diamond engagement ring is bound to go down in history as one of the most elegant and beautiful of all time. The central stone is an emerald cut natural diamond; a shape that is often chosen for a stone of this magnitude as it accentuates a stone’s clarity more than any other cut,’ a spokesperson revealed.

‘The subtle long lines are reminiscent of an Art Deco silhouette. When you look at a brilliant cut round diamond you see the reflected light, whilst when you look at a emerald cut you look into the diamond. It’s just like you would look into a swimming pool.

‘There are only a very small number of diamonds in the world of this size and clarity, making this ring particularly rare. Congratulations Paris!’

She and fiancé Carter have been dating for a year, with Paris telling fans there is ‘no one else she’d rather spend forever with’.

Sharing their engagement, she wrote on Instagram: ‘When you find your soulmate, you don’t just know it. You feel it. 💫 My love & I have been together since our first date, and for my birthday, he arranged a special trip to tropical paradise. 🏝️ As we walked to dinner along the beach, Carter led us to a cabana adorned with flowers and dropped to one knee.

‘💍 I said yes, yes to forever ❤️ There’s no one I’d rather spend forever with. ✨ To see more photos of my birthday dream come true, visit Here’s to Love – the Forever Kind 💋 #Engaged #SheSaidYes.’

The couple were flooded with congratulations from their celebrity friends, including Kris Jenner, who commented: ‘Congratulations!!!!!!! So excited and happy!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕.’

Supermodel Heidi Klum posted: ‘Congratulations. I am so happy for you two. Sending lots of love,’ while Miranda Kerr added: ‘So happy for you!!!!’

Paris has been engaged three times previously; first to ex Jason Shaw from 2002 to 2003, then to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis from 2004 until 2005 and thirdly to actor Chris Zylka in 2018.

10 months after his proposal, Paris and Chris split, with the heiress stating the break up was the ‘best decision she has made in her life’.
