Countdown presenter Rachel Riley, 35, has revealed her time on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, where she met her now-husband Pasha Kovalev, 41, left her needing therapy. The star, who was paired with professional dancer Pasha in the competition, admitted she now “avoids” the BBC show, as “it still terrifies me”.
The maths expert explained she had to have Cognitive behavioural therapy to recover from her experience on the series.
Rachel candidly said: “It still terrifies me. I’ve had CBT since because it was so terrifying.
“I just avoid it to be honest.”
Despite her negative feelings around taking part in the BBC programme, Rachel insisted she still loves dancing.
The Channel 4 host added: “I love dancing; when Pasha and I go on holiday we always find a salsa club whether we were in Indonesia or LA or Cannes, wherever we were in the world.”
Rachel, who is currently expecting her second baby with Pasha, continued: “I’ve had a bit of a belly for the last couple of years so as soon as I don’t we’ll go somewhere.
“It’s really great and when we’ve been on holiday with our mums he’s like spinning them around and they love it as well.
“He gets very good brownie points.”
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for the BBC for comment.
Rachel was the fifth star to be voted off Strictly in November 2013 after losing the dance-off to Abbey Clancy and Aljaž Škorjanec, who went on to win the series.
Six years later, Rachel and Pasha tied the knot in a Las Vegas wedding, and welcomed daughter Maven in the same year.
Elsewhere, Rachel’s other half Pasha recently opened up about ensuring she is “protected” after the pregnant star had been the subject of “trolling” online.

The former Strictly pro said the wellbeing of his family, including the couple’s one-year-old daughter Maven, is the most “important thing” to him.
Pasha said: “The wellbeing of my family is the most important thing so trolling affects my wife a lot.
“I’m very distant from this kind of thing, I never look at comments online and Rachel is trying to get a point across about racial abuse or domestic violence and she gets back very, I would say, ridiculous messages.
“People completely miss the point and speak about something totally irrelevant.
“I am trying to protect her as much as I can by providing a safe environment at home, that’s all I can do and try to direct her attention to the good things.”
The Russian dancer explained it is impossible for Rachel to completely “avoid” all negative responses online, however, he is “insisting” she cuts down on her screen time.
Rachel is due to give birth to their second child this Autumn.
“I’m trying to support her to do less of it [social media] whilst she’s pregnant,” Pasha added to OK! magazine.
