Rupert Grint says being a dad is 'a different kind of love'

Rupert Grint says becoming a dad gave him a different outlook on life which helped him with his latest acting role, as he opened up about his daughter in a rare interview moment.

The Harry Potter star and his actress girlfriend Georgia Groome welcomed their daughter in May last year.

The actor was promoting his new Apple+ series Servant, about couple Dorothy and Sean who are visited by a mysterious, dark force after their child dies. Rupert plays the child’s uncle, Julian.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, the 32-year-old said becoming a dad helped with the part.

He shared: ‘It’s very strange. It definitely has kind of changed my perspective on things but also in a helpful way.

‘It was something I never really had much of an idea of, it was that kind of love, it’s a very different love and kind of getting into the head space of Dorothy and the grief, what it means to lose a child is kind of unimaginable and kind of hones in on that…you would do anything to get your child back.

‘So yeah, it’s definitely helped in some ways.’

‘I think it’s probably the worst show to be a part of if you’ve just become a dad,’ he joked.

The star joined Instagram in November and introduced the world to his little one.

He wrote: ‘Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint.’

Rupert and Georgia, who are fiercely private, have been together since 2011.
