Presenter AJ Odudu was rehearsing for this Saturday’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing with her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington when she suffered an unexpected injury. As a result, the star had to leave training early in order to recover.

AJ, 33, took to Instagram last night to share the incident with her 160,000 followers.

She shared a snap of herself and partner Kai, 26, posing in the mirror, before including another shot of her legs submerged in an ice bath.

The caption read: “Yesterday I got kneed in the face, today I had to leave training early to go and soak in an ice filled bath!

“Let’s see what training the Charleston has in store for us tomorrow eh?!

“So far it feels fast, dangerous and near impossible.

“If ever I saw a challenge, it’s THIS! Tomorrow, we try again.”

The celeb also included a video with her partner after the disastrous collision occurred.

“Hello guys! Day one of learning the Charleston with Kai…” she began.

“I’m scared, I’m not going to lie. I’ve already smashed my face onto Kai’s knee.

“So I’m going to get some ice on that today.”

Kai then joked that they would be incorporating some Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art style, into their Charleston this week with “a bit of knee to head” action.

AJ added: “The routine is incredible but it’s so fast, so hard and I’m in shock. Send help!”

AJ’s followers were quick to send in messages of support and encouragement under her post.

Her fashion model friend Portia Freeman commented: “New day tomorrow beaty girl, you can DO THIS.”(sic)

Debbie Lee added: “No one can say you’re not fully committed… but no more injuries please!”

Later at home, the Big Brother’s Bit on the Side presenter continued to share her frustrations over the demanding dance she’s learning this week.

“Oh my gosh guys, this dance is killer,” she said.

“I’m home just running a bath, which I’m going to fill with ice.”

Last week AJ and Kai wowed the Strictly judges with their Viennese Waltz to Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande, which earned them a score of three nines and one 10.

This week they will perform the Charleston to Don’t Bring Lulu by Dorothy Provine featuring Pinky and The Girls.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One at 6:45pm on Saturday.
