‘The Bold Type’ stars praise the work of journalists

The women of the “The Bold Type” said working on the series about females in journalism has deepened their appreciation for the industry.

“It’s such a great world and you guys are heroes really. It’s hard what you guys do,” actress Melora Hardin, who plays the editor in chief of a Cosmopolitan-like magazine on the show, told Page Six at Thursday’s Cinema Society bash for for the casts of NBC’s midseason shows.

Katie Stevens even tried to write an article when the series first began, but, even though she plays a star reporter, she couldn’t do it. “I think it’s a hard thing to do and to do well, so I commend anybody in the journalism field who does it.”

Actress Meghann Fahy, who plays a fashion assistant at the fictional magazine, echoed the sentiments.

In the series, Stevens’ character even tries her hand at being a reporter for Page Six for one night, but isn’t sure she could do it in real life.

“Listen, I do the best I can when I’m playing it, but it requires a lot of bravery and courage to be able to do that and have the confidence to break stories and tell the stories that need to be told,” she told us. “I respect the hell out of what you guys do.”

“The Bold Type” is inspired by and loosely based on former Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles. She is an executive producer on the show, which is currently in its fourth season on Freeform.

Also at the glitzy Rainbow Room party were Terry Crews, Carol Alt, Adam Pally, Eric McCormick, Amir Arison, Fran Drescher and Arianna Huffington. Ironically, “30 Rock” star Scott Adsit was also spotted.
