Love Island stars Paige Turley and Finn Tap have been crowned the winners of the show’s first ever winter series.
Laura Whitmore revealed that the couple – who were the first to make it official on the series this time round – had beaten Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman, who finished in second place.
The winning pair were then given envelopes with one containing £50,000 in cash. Paige landed the cash and was asked whether she wanted to share the money, with Finn saying he ‘didn’t have a doubt’ that she’d split the dollar with him.
In their interviews ahead of the final result being revealed, Paige and Finn spoke about their relationship, with Paige joking that Finn was the one ‘carrying the team’ when it came to fan support. Paige, please.
Paige said that she was ‘taken aback’ by learning Finn was 20 on their first date, while he joked there’s only 18-months between them.
Finn said that he knew he wanted Paige to be his girlfriend after the couple passed the ultimate test of Casa Amor. He returned to the villa to see Paige standing there still single, out of loyalty to him, and he said: ‘The overwhelming feeling of her being single, girlfriend it is.’
Paige said that the whole moment was nothing but ‘surreal’, as she teased that she wants the pair to get a dog now they’re out of the villa.
Siannise said she was drawn to Luke T because of his ‘smile’, while he gushed: ‘She’s just my type… naturally beautiful… genuine. I just thought, “Yep, that’s the one.”‘
On the subject of Casa Amor, Siannise said she had every faith that Luke was coming back for her, while Luke said being away from his gal was ‘horrible’ and the couple both agreed ‘good things’ are ahead.
Oh, and of course, a trip to Disneyland.
Earlier in the show, Laura revealed that Jess Gale and Ched Uzor had finished in fourth place, while Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott closely followed in third.
Demi and Luke M spoke of their plans to continue their romance on the outside, like going travelling and Luke making some space for Demi in his home for her to visit, while Jess recalled twin Eve coming to surprise her during the family visit and Ched teased that he always knew Jess was going to pick him to couple up with after Casa Amor.
The final show was definitely a tear-jerker, as the finalists gushed about their love for one another and fans saw the villa host its very own prom night.
Islanders were woken up to a dance lesson, where they were taught how to tango by professional dancers. After a quick spin around the garden, the girls were treated to a spa day to get prom ready and the boys discussed their prom nights from the past, with Finn mistakenly calling a corsage a ‘courgette’.
The boys then got to work creating their heart-felt poems and love was in the air, as the couples professed their love for one another in emotional speeches, that saw Luke T offering to move to be with girlfriend Siannise and Finn break down in tears as he told girlfriend Paige he loves her.
Host Laura also paid tribute to Caroline Flack as Love Island aired another emotional tribute to its former leading lady and dedicated the live final to Caroline, as they remembered their friend in a moving moment.
Laura choked up as she told viewers at home how ‘difficult’ the past week has been for her and the Love Island team. She said: ‘Caroline loved Love Island and that’s why tonight’s final is dedicated to her.’
A montage of Caroline’s time on Love Island then followed, showing the presenter throughout the series over the years, her interactions with contestants and her infectious laugh playing out.
Fans were also treated to a look back at the best bits over the entire series, from all the drama from Casa Amor (we’re looking at you Callum and Molly) to Luke T asking Siannise to be his girlfriend while pulling out all the stops with his fairytale-themed plan.
There was a surprise performance of Sean Paul and, of course, the moment Shaughna shockingly revealed she might have had feelings for Luke M.
What a journey, eh.
