Resident Evil 4 demo is coming today reveals accidental Twitch leak

Capcom has a showcase event today, with a heavy focus on Resident Evil 4, but an ad on Twitch reveals that it will have a special bonus.

If you’re willing to stay up late tonight there’s a Capcom Spotlight event due, that will spill the beans on a number of upcoming titles, including the remake of Resident Evil 4.

Most people have probably been sold on the remake already but on Twitch an ad for the event was accidentally run too early, and reveals that a free demo is planned as part of the showcase.

The ad implies that the demo will be on both Xbox and PlayStation, and is probably the section of the game we played last year – which was originally created for the Tokyo Game Show.

Whatever the demo is exactly, the ad implies that it will be released as soon as the showcase is over, since it says it’s ‘available now’ – with no mention of having to wait till a specific time to download it.

Capcom is more fond of demos than many other publishers but while it’s had them for most of the recent Resident Evil games they’ve usually come with some sort of caveat in terms of how long they’re available for or how many times you can play them.

As for the rest of the showcase, as well as Resident Evil 4 there’ll also be looks at Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, the current gen version of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the remake of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, and weird dinosaur shooter Exoprimal. (Oddly, Street Fighter 6 is not confirmed.)

There’s no indication that any new games will be announced but, while that’s not impossible, the event is only due to last around 26 minutes, so none of these games are going to be featured for too long.

Resident Evil 4 launches on March 24 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
