Mum-of-five who spends more on food than mortgage shows off packed trolley & jokes she ‘should have stopped at three’

WHEN you've got a family to feed and a strict budget to stick to, supermarket trips can resemble a military operation – but that doesn't mean we always stick to our shopping list.

One mum who knows a little something about this is Jade Kearney.

Earlier this week, the Queensland mum shared a photo of her packed trolley crammed full of everyday essentials and sweet treats which feeds her family-of-seven for a week.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the mum revealed that her weekly food shop actually costs MORE than their mortgage.

While Jade spends an average of £225 every week on food, the family's monthly mortgage repayments are £265.

She joked: "I should've agreed with my husband when he said three kids is enough."

The mum averages two hours in the supermarket every week and tries to cook meals from scratch each evening – including a vegetarian option for her 17-year-old daughter.

Urging other shoppers not to impulse buy products that are on offer, Jade said: "Look through weekly specials, if you need it, buy it. If you don't, leave it."

She added: "Thoroughly look through your pantry and fridge. Have your shopping list at hand. Write all the things you need.

"What are you running out of ? How long until you need more? Such as butter, do you have enough to last until next week or fortnight."
