Yes, we pamper our dogs too much. And what about it?
Now, Brits are taking on the pampering to a whole new (aesthetic) level.
Pet owners have turned charcuterie boards for dogs into a thing. And the results are pretty mesmerising.
While our doggos can’t appreciate the items of a regular board – which tend to boast cold meats, cheese, nuts, fruits, crackers and chutneys, the animal version has its own unique selling points.
Many people have taken to Instagram to show off the ornate offerings of fruits, veggies, breadsticks, and of course dog treats (in the shape of meat).
And they’re calling the trend – wait for it – bark-cuterie, and it is really taking off on Instagram.
Other Instagrammers have shared their versions, including one which is personalised, another to celebrate one lucky pooch’s birthday, and more.
One bakery even created a board in the shape of a bone.
If you’re thinking of making one of these grazing treats for your dogs, then be sure you have items that are safe for them to consume.
There are some foods that are not suitable for pets to eat so be sure to check those out.
If you want to make the plate colourful, you can add cucumbers, bananas, carrots and mango.
You can also add meats – though avoid leftover cooked meats, or skins including turkey and bacon – instead use cooked plain beef, or boneless fish.
You can also add dried jerky or salmon.
To top it off, include some dog biscuits. And voila, you have your barkcuterie board.
But as each one includes quite a lot of calories, if you’re feeding just one pooch, avoid giving them the whole thing.
Instead, offer them snack-sized portions. Or perhaps if you have a couple of canines, you can offer it to them altogether.
Just don’t forget your pic for the ‘Gram.
