Get paid £600 to drink wine in Portugal on this 'vinternship'

Is there anything better than sitting on a hot summer’s day, sipping wine in the sunshine?

What about getting paid for it?

If you’re partial to a glass of vino verde, a new summer job could be for you.

The folks at Majestic are looking to hire someone to take part in their ‘vinternship’ – which involves travelling to Portugal to sample some delicious wines, straight from the source.

The three-day placement will involve sampling wines from the retailer’s ‘Spain and Portugal Summer Case,’ at Quinta Da Boavista vineyard.

As well as getting flights and accommodation paid for, the chosen candidate will receive £600 for their efforts – not to mention will get to sample some great wine in the process.

They can also bring a friend along for the experience.

The ‘vintern’s’ work schedule will involve getting a tour of the vineyard in a traditional horse and carriage, visiting the wine cellar and barrel room before trying a selection of wines and olive oils from five regions around Portugal: the Algarve, Alentejo, Lisboa, Douro, and Vinho Verdes.

The two visitors will also be treated to a three-course lunch, paired with the vineyard’s own tipples.

Summer jobs don’t really get better than this, do they?

Of course, it’s not all fun and games as the selected person will have to re-sample the wines when they return to compare flavour and enjoyment – and their findings will be published on the Majestic website.

The idea is that it’ll settle that age-old debate on whether wine actually tastes better on holiday.

Anyone interested in the summer job can apply online by submitting 200 words on why they deserve the role. Also, it’s worth pointing out that no prior experience is needed – just a passion for wine and a valid passport.

Applications close on August 19 and the role will commence in September.
