The humble crumpet is a beautiful thing.
Slather it in butter and it’s delicious. Top it with jam and it’s also great. You can even pop a poached egg on it if you’re feeling like pushing the boat out.
But now there’s a new way to enjoy a crumpet – and it’s the savoury snack we never knew we needed.
TikTok account @foodmadesimple has created cheesy garlic bread using crumpets instead of a traditional baguette.
And the best part is the recipe requires minimal effort.
Simply start by cutting a load of crumpets into quarters, then place them in an ovenproof dish.
After, pour over lots of melted garlic butter (really don’t hold back on this step) and make sure the crumpets are fully soaked.
Then, add lots of grated cheese over the whole thing before popping the lot in the oven. Cook until the cheese is melted and gooey.

Due to their airy make-up, crumpets are brilliant for soaking up this garlic butter.
Lots of followers have been left thoroughly impressed, adding that they can’t wait to try out the food hack.
One replied: ‘Crumpets can be so versatile, that’s a really good recipe.’
While another added: ‘Well I think this is a great idea particularly if you’ve forgotten to get some garlic bread in.’
‘Wow, just wow,’ another shocked follower chipped in.
However, it seems not everyone is convinced by the creation.
Someone else commented: ‘Somehow this feels like a hate crime.’
A different user added: ‘The texture would be so confusing.’
While another said: ‘I’m so conflicted – I don’t know whether I hate it or want to try it.’
But garlic crumpets are not the only thing dividing opinions on TikTok, people have also been making pasta skewers – which not everyone is on board with.
There’s also the frozen honey trend – which might not be as good as you think.
