Marks and Spencer: How Percy Pig sweets almost weren’t created
It’s been a tough start of the year with the UK in its third national lockdown, and so it seems that everyone is trying to raise people’s spirits in any way they can, including Marks and Spencer. The retailer has delighted shoppers in deciding to re-introduce its Christmas sandwich to stores.
M&S announced on its Instagram account yesterday that the Christmas sandwich is back.
In a post, the retailer’s social media staff wrote: “You asked, we listened: our famous Christmas turkey feast sandwich is returning to our Foodhall – you’re welcome.
“Get yours in store now,” they added.
The Christmas sandwich is made from a malted brown bread and contains a plethora of delicious fillings.

The sandwich’s ingredients include slices of turkey breast, pork, sage and onion stuffing, and bacon.
Onion mayonnaise and cranberry chutney are also added for the perfect amount of moistness.
M&S calls its sandwich the ‘Ding Dong Turkey Feast’.
It costs £3.30.

Despite the price, shoppers are delighted that the famous sandwich has returned to stores.
The soft bread and mouth-watering fillings are worth the three quid.
One customer wrote on Instagram: “I love this! Didn’t manage to get to a store over Christmas and this will make my year!”
“Wait… Is this real? I hope so! Need all this back in my life!” added another.
Many of the commenters on the M&S Instagram post were grateful to the retailer, writing notes of thanks accompanied by heart emojis.
One shopper said: “My dreams do come true.”
Another wrote: “Christmas stuff all year round will always be a winner. Bravo!”
Some customers asked the supermarket if a gluten-free version of the sandwich will also be available.
In response to one commenter, M&S wrote: “There’s no plans for the gluten free version but we’ll let our Food team know you’d love to see this one available all year too.”
The gluten-free turkey sandwich is called the ‘Made Without Wheat Turkey Feast’ and is also on sale in M&S stores every year around Christmas.
It costs £3.90 and has not been re-introduced to stores this month.
The original Christmas sandwich is, however, available to buy in all UK M&S stores now.
