Mum's genius five-minute boiled egg hack means you don't have to peel the shells

Eggs, we love them.

They’re perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but they can be quite the faff to cook, especially if you’re prone to getting the odd shell into the mixture.

Those who love a hard-boiled egg might be put off by the prospect of having to peel them at the end.

But one mum has come up with a solution that means there’s no peeling required.

Australian mum Laura recommends cracking the uncooked egg into a heatproof bowl sprayed with oil.

She then places the bowl into a pot on the stove, filled with water, meaning the eggs boil in the same way but without their shell.

And that’s all there is to it.

Laura’s five-minute hack has been hailed as ‘genius’ and as a ‘game-changer’ by the Instant Pot Community Facebook, where she shared the tip.

Though you won’t get the usual egg shape, you’ll be left with a hard-boiled egg that takes the shape of the bowl you use.

The hack is perfect if you need to chop the egg up for a salad or sandwich.

On the Facebook post, Laura wrote: ‘I’m making potato salad and needed eight boiled eggs, chopped. Did you know you can just crack them in a bowl and put the whole bowl in the pot? No ice bath or peeling required.

‘The resulting bowl-shaped egg loaf is initially horrifying, but once you chop it up, it’s wonderful!’

People loved Laura’s hack and it was shared more than 81,000 times.

One person wrote: ‘This is genius. I hate peeling eggs!’ while another said: ‘That is a game-changer!’

One person added their own tip, saying: ‘Then use a baking rack that has a smallish square grid, and simply push it through. Instantly diced’.

Now you can go forth and make your own egg salads or sandwiches with this nifty little trick.
