People on TikTok are making butter candles

TikTok is constantly reinventing culinary classics – whether it’s Oreo sushi, Boursin pasta or a roast chicken with a Bisto gravy rub.

But the latest trend on the platform involves getting creative with butter.

People are making butter candles, in order to make the dairy product perfectly melted and dippable for bread, meat and more.

It looks like TikToker @sooziethefoodie first came up with these butter candles, after posting a step-by-step tutorial on how to make them – a video which has now received more than 2.1 million views.

Simply put, the technique involves flattening a roll of butter out into a rectangle (you can use cling film to achieve this) and then adding an edible wick to the middle, before rolling it into a candle shape.

The idea is that when the wick burns, the butter will melt – leaving you with a perfectly soft middle for dipping or dunking.

Soozie firstly dips bread into a candle – but, in another video, the user can be seen dunking wagyu steak into a truffle marrow butter.

So the possibilities are endless.

The fun creation has been described as ‘bougie af’ by other TikTok users.

One person replied: ‘I’m delighted by this in every way.’

Another gushed: ‘I have been uninspired to make anything for months – but this makes me feel something.’

While others have suggested giving it a go with a stick of cheese too – for a gooey, fondue-like addition to a plate.

Elsewhere in the world of TikTok hacks, another person has shared how to make perfectly round cookies every time by using a glass. A technique that ensures they look uniform and aesthetically-pleasing on a plate.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a new sweet treat that doesn’t require much effort, a baker has also revealed how to make a two-ingredient Nutella soufflé in minutes.
