We've officially been eating Jaffa Cakes upside down

Yes, you read that right – apparently we’ve been looking at Jaffa Cakes all wrong.

The Jaffa Cake has always been a controvercial confectionery.

Debates have raged over whether or not it is a cake or a cookie, and your favourite way to eat one can be absolutely scandalous to someone else.

On top of all that contention, now we have to grapple with the fact that Jaffa Cakes have said the chocolate is on the bottom.

One curious person, known only as David, had a quick exchange with Jaffa Cakes on social media, which has since been screenshotted and shared on a Facebook called Family Lockdown Tip & Ideas.

He simply asked: ‘What side of the Jaffa is the bottom’.

The earth-shattering reply from the Jaffa Cakes account?

‘Hi David,’ they said, ‘Our Jaffa Cakes go through a reservoir of chocolate, so the chocolate is the bottom, Thanks Jaffa Cake.’

‘Wtf dudde’ was David’s reply, which pretty much sums it up.

This might not be a shock to die-hard Jaffa fans as, back in 2017, a rep for McVitie’s told Good Housekeeping: ‘When we make our McVitie’s chocolate biscuits – whether that be Chocolate Hobnobs, Chocolate Digestives, or even Jaffa Cakes – they go through a reservoir of chocolate on the production line.

‘This essentially “enrobes” the bottom in chocolate – so we can confirm that the chocolate is officially on the bottom of the biscuits.’

Commenters on the post sharing David’s conversation were in an uproar, with one writing: ‘OMG just turned my world upside down.’

Another argued: ‘on the box it’s on the top?’ while one simply said: ‘Who cares? Just shove ’em in your gob’
