DEAR DEIDRE: BEING in constant pain has killed my sex drive. I’m a 52-year-old woman and I have osteoporosis in my back.
I used to love life. I was outgoing, the life and soul of the party. But now, with all the pain, I feel low, emotional, angry and fat. I spend my weekends sleeping and don’t want to go out.
I love my partner. He’s 49 and a fit man. He loves cycling so that keeps him active.
He loves me and is very supportive but I’m worried the lack of sex may break us up.
DEIDRE SAYS: You have classic symptoms of depression, no doubt brought on by the pain, so do talk to your doctor.
You can find guidance on managing the pain from Pain Concern, on their site at painconcern.org.uk.
If intercourse isn’t possible for you my e-leaflet on Couples Massage can help you both to find the intimacy and sexual satisfaction you’ve lost.
