Inside KFC at Christmas gave Channel 4 viewers a glimpse behind the scenes of the popular chicken chain.
Many were excited to learn more about how the fast food giant operates.
Sadly, they didn’t find out the Colonel’s 11 secret herbs and spices.
But despite this, they did discover how KFC’s iconic gravy is made.
While some enjoyed seeing this process, others admitted it “put them off” the fast food item for life.
This is because it uses “crackling” – AKA leftover chicken scraps from the fryer – and is put into the microwave.
One viewer tweeted: “If you’re watching “Inside KFC at Christmas” and you order their gravy again after seeing that, you’re a scumbag.”
Another said: “Watching Inside @KFC at Christmas on Channel 4.
“How they make the gravy has put me off KFC for life.”
A third wrote: “Inside KFC at Christmas = me never eating KFC gravy ever again.”
And a fourth added: “KFC revealing how they make their gravy on Channel 4 is one way to lose customers.”
Despite the backlash, many pointed out that gravy is often made from scraps and stock.
A foodie responded: “All these people freaking out about the KFC gravy are not ready to hear the definition of gravy in general.”
And another agreed: “That’s proper gravy – well done KFC for using traditional methods.”
Others said they’d keep buying the sauce because it is in the “god tier” of food.
One gushed: “KFC gravy is amazing!” and another swooned: “KFC gravy is really delicious”.
On the Channel 4 show, KFC assistant manager Adam Mala was equally passionate about the gravy.
In a clip from the programme, he said: “People might say that its ‘only gravy’.
“No, it’s not only gravy. We need the gravy to be the best it can, we need it to be the best in the company.”
He even drinks the sauce on its own, adding: “I prefer it to a cup of tea – it’s that gorgeous.”
