DEAR DEIDRE: MY boyfriend walked out on me on Christmas Day.
He refused to come down to join me and my eight-year-old son opening our presents in the morning.

He’s not his dad but my son was so excited and it ruined the day.
My mum and dad were at mine too.
My boyfriend got moody when he realised I was upset with him.
He flew into a rage and told my family I was a liar because I’d gone on Facebook when he’d said I wasn’t allowed to.
Then he left.
He begged me to take him back a few hours later but I refused.
Please say I made the right decision to end our relationship.
DEIDRE SAYS: Sounds likely.
Your boyfriend had no right to order you off Facebook, let alone ruin everyone’s Christmas Day with a tantrum.
If you do really love him, ask whether he has poor memories of Christmas from when he was a child – this may have triggered his behaviour.
But only accept him back if he organises counselling so he can start to change.
My e-leaflet How Counselling Helps explains.
