The Queen of the North has issued a decree on pissed-off “Game of Thrones” critics.
Sophie Turner, who plays Winterfell’s newly crowned Sansa Stark in the late record-smashing series, responded to fans’ petition to have the writers re-do the show’s final season.
The petition has wracked up nearly 1.4 million signatures since it was circulated after last week’s penultimate episode.
“It’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season. Like 50-something night shoots,” Turner said in an interview with the New York Times this week.
“People always have an idea in their heads of how they want a show to finish,” she continued, “and so when it doesn’t go to their liking, they start to speak up about it.”
Turner wasn’t the only cast member to denounce the haters. Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays King Bran “the Broken” Stark, called it “absurd.” Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, lashed out at not just the petition signers, but any critic of the show, telling naysayers to “go f–k themselves.”
Even non-“Game of Thrones” actors have been standing up for the show’s writers and the creative process of writing the show. “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart scolded petition signers in an Instagram post last week.
“This is not how television works…TV shows are not fan service. It’s ridiculous of people to think people can demand creative change from artists,” Reinhart wrote.
Turner added that the show’s petulant fans just need to grow up.
“It’s a shock for sure, but I think it’s just because it hasn’t gone their way,” she said.
