Raheem Sterling has been one of the standout stars of the Euro 2020 tournament.

While the footballer is engaged to Paige Milian, if things would have worked out differently there could have been a former X Factor sitting in the wings cheering him on.

That's because Raheem reportedly had the hots for Tulisa Contostavlos around 2016, and asked a friend to set him up. However, he faced something young footballers are not always used to – rejection!

After finding herself on the receiving end of attention from the Manchester City and England striker, Tulisa, now 32, was flattered by the attention.

While the N-Dubz member was originally taken by Raheem, she was put off when she googled his age and discovered he was six years younger than her.

A source said that Tulisa's rejection had damaged the ego of the football star, who was 20 at the time.

They revealed, "Raheem is probably one of the country's best young footballers and is destined for international superstardom, so he'd expect to pull any girl he wants and usually does just that but he didn't have much luck with Tulisa."

Tulisa, who has dated actor Jack O'Connell and footballer Danny Simpson, considered herself a "grown woman", and despite Raheem's fame and fortune, the age gap was just too much.

Raheem's star has continued to rise since then, and he is currently helping to take the team all the way in the Euros. He has scored three goals for England, as well as assisting his teammates helping to cement England's place in the final.

It will be the first time the men's team have been in a final of a European Championship and it will be England men's first tournament final since the 1966 World Cup.

Alongside fiancée Paige cheering him on at Wembley Stadium, he also has his adorable sons Thiago, four and one year old Thai-Cruz.

While Raheem's daughter Melody, nine, from a previous relationship, is also supporting her Dad.

The family live in a sprawling five-bedroom home in Cheshire which he reportedly bought for £3.1million in 2017.

The couple got engaged in March 2018 when Raheem, proposed with a dazzling rock. They were forced to postpone their wedding to the coronavirus pandemic.
