If you picked up a quirky new lockdown hobby you aren't alone – Team GB Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley did exactly the same.

Not only is the 27-year-old diver training continuously and while looking after son, Robert, three, with husband Dustin Lance Black, but he has also picked up crocheting.

Taking to his dedicated crochet Instagram account – Made With Love By Tom Daley – we get to see the pieces which he makes for his family and honestly, we think he should start selling them as they’re actually quite stylish.

Captioning his first post back in September 2020, the diver said “I started knitting at the beginning of lockdown and have been obsessed ever since.

“I have started to crochet now also! Share this page with anyone you know that likes knitting and crochet!”

Whether it’s a pair of little boots, an adorable cardigan for his son or even a couch for your cat, we think it’s definitely safe to say that he’s mastered the skill.

Posting a picture of him posing in the blue and yellow striped trunks, Tom captioned the post with “I finally did it! I made some crochet trunks haha! I didn’t have a pattern to follow, I just had to try and adapt some bikini bottoms to make them fit…but what do you think?”

On Monday 26 July, Tom and diving partner Matty Lee took home the Olympic gold medal for Men's synchronized 10 meter platform and whilst we’re overjoyed for the team, we’re also glad he didn’t wear his crochet trunks that he made back in October 2020 because that could have ended badly.

During the commentary of the event, ex-team GB diver Chris Mears revealed how Tom was crocheting whilst competing in Tokyo to help with relaxation – and if that’s not enough confirmation that it’s a zen hobby then we don’t know what is.

So if you’re already a fan of Tom then make sure to become a fan of his crocheting too – you never know, this could be introduced as an Olympic sport one day.
