Best holiday deals to Greece from £193pp – as ministers work on plans to allow Brits to jet away for summer

AS MINISTERS work on plans for vaccine passports and hold talks with getaway hotspots, there is hope that some holidays abroad could go ahead this summer.

One of the hotspots in question is Greece, a popular choice with holidaying Brits.

There is a chance that tourists who have been vaccinated may be welcomed back to Greece this summer without having to have negative coronavirus tests.

The country joins Spain in offering hope for UK tourists returning by the summer with fewer travel restrictions if they have had the jab.

Though it's still a risk to plan a foreign holiday, there are some great deals for those who are willing to take a punt on trips to Greece going ahead.

Some of the best deals are:

  • Jet2 Holidays seven-night self-catering Greek island holidays from £299pp
  • Jet2 Holidays seven-night all-inclusive Greek island holidays from £599pp

Greece Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis told BBC's Today programme that he was hopeful it would be a "normal summer" for vaccinated travellers.

He said: "Technical discussions [with the UK] are underway to see if that’s going to be feasible. I am very hopeful we can reach some kind of solution.

"We don’t want to limit travel to those who have been vaccinated of course.

"But since we are mandating that before travelling someone has to have a negative test result, this is a waste of resources if people are vaccinated, to be tested every time they travel, the need for this testing could be limited by the vaccination certificate."

He said the UK's vaccination programme was one of the best in the world which could lead to a "much, much better" summer.

Foreign travel is current banned, but for those looking to book a bit later in the year, there are cheap all inclusive holidays for this summer, many of which have free child places and there are many cheap package holidays.

If you fancy staying in the UK, holiday parks are also offering huge bargains – some of which start from £3pp a night.

We've also found cheap deals in the warmest parts of the UK, as well as at Britain's best beaches for dog owners and those with kids.
